Maddy's Birthday Party
The idea for Maddy's birthday activity came about half a year while I was doing dishes. I accidently dropped a bowl she painted while on a family trip to Whidbey Island. At the time I think I was more upset about breaking the bowl than Maddy. I told her we could go again to paint something, just the two of us and that seemed to seal the deal. She was quite happy to toss the broken bowl into the trash. Ouch!
Anyway, this weekend we celebrated her 5th birthday at Cowboys and Angels where they have a pottery painting studio. Actually, this place does it all. They are a toy store, a pottery painting studio and a photography studio all rolled into one. Crazy! The party was very manageable because they let the kids choose a piece to paint and handed out all the paint colours the kids needed. I had envisioned running around helping kids get their colours and it wasn't like that at all. I can't wait to see the finished pieces once they are out of the kiln. I will be sure to post a picture of the pieces later on.
The weekend was an even bigger celebration because not only did Oma and Opa come in town for a visit, but Auntie Kim and Kaes came too! So after a cake-party celebration at Lucy's house on Friday, Maddy and Ethan were so excited to see Kaes, Auntie Kim, Oma and Opa when they came home from daycare. On Saturday we took advantage of the free Science World admission they had for the weekend. It was busy, busy, busy there but who can say no to free admission AND free cake! By the end of the weekend everyone was very happy, and very tired. The birthday girl fell asleep in an instant and mom and dad even went to bed early.
Happy birthday to our sweet girl, we love you so much!!!
Love,
Mama, Papa and Ethan
