This term we've been studying the Netherlands in Social Studies and Plants for Science. Because of this, we couldn't pass up the chance to go to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in Washington. The kids usually have Chinese school on Saturdays, but the classes were cancelled due to the long weekend. Perfect chance to go!...Except for crazy border lines and possible madness at the festival. We woke up at 6:30am and were driving to the border by 7:00. I can't imagine how long the lines would've been otherwise, but we still had a 1+ hour wait at the border. We arrived at the festival easily and the lines were not too long to get in yet. It was only about 10am by then. The flowers were gorgeous and well worth the trip. We had a fun time reading the names of all the different varieties. After a bit of time in the garden area, the kids were itching to go out into the fields. They had a great time trying to navigate around the big puddles (it poured with rain the day before we went). By the time we left the festival at 11:30, the lines up were crazy. Even the highway exit off the I-5 was backed up with people trying to get to the festival. We went to Tulalip Outlets and got a few good deals before heading back to Old Fairhaven for dinner. The 15 mins. border wait to get home made for a perfect ending to a great day.

So beautiful. This reminds me of back home. Once Oma went by herself to Holland. And Oma's sister Corrie and my Mama took me to Keuken hof. This is a big park full of spring bulbs( daffodils, tulips etc)
Maybe one day Opa and Oma can take you there. It looks like you all had a beautiful day.
