That night Maddy went to bed declaring that she had a lot of 'planning' to do. She stayed up in bed and brainstormed ways she could pull pranks on us. I later found this in her bedroom.
Maddy did actually put a used piece of paper in the printer and as it happened, I did use the printer today. She was so proud of herself!
On the morning of the 1st, the kids woke early. Maddy was in and out of our room and kept poking around at the bed. She was trying to find the stuffed hippo that I sleep with and trade it for her Minnie Mouse. When I 'woke', I was so surprised to find that I was holding Minnie Mouse. The best prank of the morning was probably Josh's underwear prank. We were all snuggled in our bed waiting for Josh to come back from his shower to get dressed.
I wasn't about to let the day go by without trying to prank the kids too.
I froze the milk in for their cereal in the glasses the night before...
... and put a few drops of blue food colouring under the dry cereal for when they poured in the milk.
All morning long, Maddy had a great time. She really got the idea of it and was switching all kinds of things around the house like my shoes and hiding my purse. I did try one prank that I used on a class full of third graders once (by the way, the kids in my classes COMPLETELY fell for it). The kids didn't go for it. Maddy was especially suspicious.

Happy April Fools Day everyone. We had a blast today!
Here is Maddy's journal entry the day after. The picture she drew says it all!
