Thank You Lucy

Yesterday was my last day of work! I am so excited to start on our new journey. I have to admit to a bit of apprehension and down right fear on my part when it comes to being the person responsible for the kids' education. I am trying really hard to just take it one day at a time and keep telling myself that all of us will be learning together.

That is not what this post was meant to be about though. Since Maddy was 12 months old she has been going to Lucy's Daycare. I happen to pass by her house many times during my mat leave when we went for walks in our neighbourhood, so it was natural that when it came time to look for childcare, she was the first place we went to check out. We feel so lucky that the kids have been able to go to the same daycare for the entire time that we needed it. Even through our own move out of the neighbourhood and through Lucy's move out of the neighbourhood. The kids ADORE her and so do I. My sister once told me to look for a caregiver that will love your kids. That's all you need. And that's Lucy. I love that she always took the time to fill us in on fun stories of what the kids did or said. She taught the kids so much during carpet time and put me to shame on the crafting front.

Anyway, I'm sad to say that yesterday was the last day at Lucy's. She threw a little party because it was another little boy's birthday, Maddy and Ethan's last day and just general beginning of the summer celebration. The kids had a great time.

I was concerned that the kids would be a mess on the last day, when we had to finally say goodbye to Lucy. Turns out that only Lucy and I were as mess. I still get weepy when I think about it, but like I told Maddy, this is part of growing up...I guess perhaps that's why the tears flow so easily too. Just another reminder that my kids are growing up so fast. In a way, I suppose it confirms to me that we are making the right choice for our family as we begin our next chapter.
