Camping Trip

When Maddy was less than a year old, we bought our Westy for camping trips with the kids. The Blommesteins are big Vanagon fans and in the last couple of years we've mostly just done camping with the whole Blommestein clan. This year we decided to try it out on our own. Well not completely on our own, the Browns came with us and we opted for a park really close by. It was great to have the extra adults to watch the kiddies and the kids played really well together.

When we were reserving the campsite back in June, the spots went crazy fast. I now understand why. Alice Lake is an AWESOME place to camp with young kids. They had a great playground, a lake to spend the day at and even a very small bike path. There were kids as little as 2 yrs using their run bikes on it. The whole site seemed to be filled with young families and it was nice and quiet at night. We had a great time and I look forward to more trips in the future. Who knows, one day soon we may even try it with just the 4 of us! Dare to dream!

On the way, there was a 3 motorcycle accident and the highway was closed for a couple of hours.

Hmmm...this looks like a great place to stop for a few HOURS.

Everyone was in a pretty good mood and we made friends with our neighbours who offered to take a family picture for us.

Our first meal. Yum! Japadogs!

Chair+drink+bowl of grapes=one very happy boy

Toasting marshmellows with Papa. Ethan couldn't wait long enough for them, so he mostly just ate marshmellows on a stick.

The kids kept each other busy. Here they are using chalk to make designer firewood.

Everyone is happy the next day.

The playground was perfect for this age group.

The weather was perfect. Nice and hot, but very breezy. We could've stayed there all day.

Ethan contemplating life and enjoying nature while doing his business!
