Happy Birthday Maddy

Wow, Maddy is four. I cannot believe how quickly four years can go by. I still have very vivid memories of the day leading up to Maddy's birth and to this day, when ever we have a crisp, sunny fall day, it reminds me of that day four years ago.

Nowadays, there are so many little things that remind me of how 'grown up' Maddy is. Just things like having to pay admission to the Aquarium, and perhaps being too tall for the play area at Brentwood Mall.

Maddy's birthday has already come and gone (yes, I'm behind on posting) but in a nutshell, it lasted just as long as Ethan's did this year. We had a party on Thanksgiving weekend with the Blommesteins, then cupcakes to preschool on Wednesday, a cake to Lucy's on her actual birthday and another mini party with Gong Gong and Po Po that evening. By the end of the week, even Maddy was getting a little tired of all the cake. This year, she requested a Hello Kitty cake and I was more than happy to oblige. Easy-peasy, and I didn't have to mix a ton of colors for the fondant either. Since it was a lower maintenance cake this year, I decided to surprise her with a rainbow cake on the inside. It was fun to see, but not sure that rainbow cake should be eaten too many times in one's lifetime :)

Everyone ready for cake.

We are trying to start a new tradition of measuring how much we've grown each year on our birthday.

Maddy just LOVES to do art. Just like Oma.

Cupcakes for preschool

Gong Gong and Po Po came over for defrosted, leftover cake!

Happy Birthday my beautiful girl, we are so proud of you and love you so much.
