A glimpse into what Maddy is like at 17 month:
*****Updated*****
- Pottying Wanted to add this for us to tell Maddy later. She still pottys fine at home and has now started to use the potty at daycare because she saw the other kids doing it. Lucy said that Maddy will pee in a potty then ask to get up. Once she is up, she'll go and sit on another clean potty and poop in that one. What luxury!!
- First haircut I thought Maddy would enjoy sitting in one of those airplane or car chairs so we went to Lonsdale Quay where they have a fancy "just for kids" hair salon. She took one look at the lady and started crying. She didn't want anything to do with the cool chairs so she just sat on Josh's lap and cried the whole time. Luckily the lady was fast and 5 mins later she was done. With a balloon in hand, Maddy happily waved bye to the lady and we left.
- Eating She does have this funny little quirk where if she is eating something she really likes, but knows that it's her last piece, she'll savour it for a L.O.N.G time. She's started eating Arrowroot cookies and at first I'd give her little pieces at a time. She'd gobble them up and be asking for more before I had time to break another piece off. If I give her just one whole cookie and tell her that it's the "last one", she'll take a good 40 mins to eat it. She did the same thing with yams the other night. I don't know who she gets that from.
- Sleeping An hour's worth of sleep was not the only thing we lost over the recent time change. It was that exact weekend when Maddy suddenly dropped her morning nap. She's been napping only once a day at daycare for a while, but at home she always took 2. Usually if I can keep her occupied, she has no problem staying up until lunch, then she is out like a light.
- Speaking We have a real talker on our hands. She says the words for so many things now that it's hard to keep up. Our favourite is "turta" for turtle because she sounds so cute! She's even beginning to pick up a little Chinese from daycare. She says "sai seow" (wash hands) every time she sees a sink, and Lucy taught her "hoi sum" (happy) because Maddy says "happy" so often.
- Bath time Recently Josh taught her how to put her face in the water and blow bubbles. She really doesn't mind the water being in her face (must have gotten that from dad because I hate it). Sometimes during a bath, she'll lean over and blow bubbles and then look up with a huge smile on her face.
- Walking She can now walk from our coffee table all the way to the stove. It's about all she wants to do now. We've noticed that she is less interested in reading books during play time. At daycare Lucy noticed that for the first time, she didn't want to sit during circle time. I hope the novelty of walking will wear off after a while because I LOVE reading with her.

We love you Maddy. One more week of classes. And then I will say to Opa lets go and see MADDY.
Wow, so much change! The last time we saw her in January she wasn't walking yet or talking too much. Can't wait to see her tonight. I'm sure she'll show off her new skills.
