1.5

I know it's a little past Maddy's year and half birthday, but we've been a sick bunch around here so we haven't had a lot of free time. The difference between 12 and 18 months for Maddy is quite a bit when it comes to how much she's learned since her first birthday.

  • Maddy is a definite walker now. She rarely crawls anymore and lately we've even started to walk all the way home from daycare. It takes about a good 1/2 hour though, because she loves to stop and look at everything from dried gum, to cherry blossom petals.
  • We can't count the number of words that Maddy knows anymore. She loves to ask "tatchou?" (what's that?) about everything. Most of the time she'll repeat the word as though trying to commit it to memory. We definitely have to watch what we say around her now.
  • Recently I opened a tea set that she received from Po Po and Gong Gong for Christmas. It was so cool to see her pretend to pour tea and then "kop!" drop the sugar cubes into the cups.
  • The other day, while visiting my parents, Maddy said "poo poo" while pointing at the washroom door. We didn't have her potty with us so Josh figure he'd just give it a go at holding her on the big toilet. He said the look on her face as she heard the tinkle of the pee hitting the water for the first time was priceless. Afterward she finished off with a poop in the big toilet. She was so proud and I have to admit, so were we! We're no where near diaper freedom, but maybe it's time for a big girl toilet seat.

Happy 1.5 years dear, sweet girl. We love you so much! xoxo mama and dada

Busy, busy, busy!

It's hard to believe that it's April already. I suppose that the weather isn't helping matters much, but time also seems to fly by when you're especially busy.

A couple of weekends ago, Josh's sister Lyn, came by for a visit from Revelstoke. Maddy really connected with Auntie Lyn this time and it was so cute to watch her sit on the couch and cuddle. "Lyn, Lyn, Lyn!!" was all we heard. Just the other day I was looking at the new MEC catalogue with Maddy and she saw a picture of a girl in there. I have to admit that it does look a bit like Lyn, but Maddy is absolutely convinced.

March 21st was the actual 'birth' day of the newest member of the Lee-Young family. We're so excited to welcome Alexis Kwan Lee-Young to our growing clan. We'll post a picture as soon as we can, but so far we've been concentrating on getting our webcam set up so that we can video chat with Calvin, Krystina and see baby Alexis. Congratulations you guys!!

On the 24th, Maddy's friend Nora celebrated her 1st birthday!! Maddy and I headed over to attend her 'duckie birthday/playdate'. After seeing pictures of Nora from a year ago, it's amazing to see how much babies change in just a year. Happy one year Nora, we look forward to more fun times.

Last Thursday was also Josh's 36th birthday. We had a small celebration with just the three of us at Sawasdee, one of Josh's favourites. This year I let Maddy choose the cards for Daddy. Needless to say there are many dog themed birthday cards around the house this time. Happy birthday babe, Maddy and I love you so much!

This past weekend Josh's mom and dad came for visit. They missed Maddy so much that they couldn't wait any longer. Maddy recognized Oma right away when Josh and mom went to pick her up from daycare. We had a great weekend hanging out.

March sure is a busy month for birthdays. On Saturday we celebrated Sharon's birthday. We met for dinner at the Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company. We've never been there before, but we were really impressed with how baby friendly they are. It was nice to catch up with everyone and see how much the group is growing (babies and bellies everywhere).

Finally our last bit of news that has been keeping us busy. We're very happy and excited to announced that we're expecting a bro or sis for Maddy. I'm very thankful to be done with the first trimester and beginning to feel 'normal' again. I was nauseous and fatigued the first few months and I have to say that without Josh, I wouldn't have made it through. Looking after a toddler and feeling yucky is no fun. Thankfully those days seem to be fading and now we look forward to late September for his or her arrival.
